Constellation Energy has successfully closed its acquisition of Calpine, creating America's largest producer of electricity as AI-related demand surges. The $26.6 billion pact was first announced a year ago, and it brings together Constellation's nuclear power production with Calpine's natural gas and geothermal resources, creating roughly 55 gigawatts of total capacity. The company will remain headquartered in Baltimore while also maintaining a strong presence in Calpine's home base of Houston.
